Updated: 5 days ago

Interested in learning about the Kissimmee River and the largest river restoration in the world? Join us Dec. 6 for a pontoon boat eco-tour and learn about the restoration project and the birds that are thriving there.

Florida Atlantic University’s Center for Environmental Studies at Riverwoods Field Lab offers field-based environmental science and education programs for students, educators, and adults via pontoon boat.

The Eco-tours offer participants a first-hand view of the Restoration Project illustrating the inter-disciplinary nature of environmental science and management. You learn about the watershed as you explore the biological habitats of the river to see the birds, gators and fish rebounding. Wear sneakers, comfortable field clothes and bring your own picnic lunch to enjoy along the river.

The trips are approximately 3 hours departing from the Riverwoods Field Lab in the small town of Lorida, located on Highway 98 between the towns of Okeechobee and Sebring. Note: the boat is a pontoon boat and there are no restrooms on board.

Limited to 16 people! Register by Nov. 21. Registrants will receive detailed maps and directions. Registration to Tampa Audubon and $35 payment to Tampa Audubon.
