Dave Howard is a board member of Friends of the Tampa Bay National Wildlife Refuges. After retiring, he decided that wildlife in Florida needed his help, especially now. To grow his understanding of Florida’s biodiversity, Dave became a Florida Master Naturalist by taking all three modules of the University of Florida science-based program. Dave provides presentations about the Tampa Bay Refuges that illustrates the great wildlife diversity here and how the Friends group has assisted US Fish & Wildlife Services reach many of their goals.

The Friends of Tampa Bay National Wildlife Refuges is a 501(c)(3) non-profit volunteer organization that provides assistance to, and supports programs of the United States Fish & Wildlife Service.

Refuge Systems are lands and waters set aside to protect our wildlife population. In Tampa Bay, there are three National Wildlife Refuges that need your help. They have become safe havens surrounded by one of the most densely populated areas in Florida. Pinellas Refuge, Passage Key, and Egmont Key offer natural areas for wildlife to rest, feed, and procreate free from human interference. Beach nesting and migratory birds, sea turtles, gopher tortoises and fish are examples of wildlife that rely heavily on these refuges for survival.
