Mary Miller
Bluebird Trail Coordinator
Email:
A member since the 1990s, Mary has led a weekly bluebird monitoring program at Flatwoods Park in Tampa since 2005. However, her favorite birds are hummingbirds because they are so tiny and beautiful and their aerial acrobatics are fun to watch. Mary was lucky to grow up in a family that loved nature and saw the value of protecting it. She became a serious birder about 25 years ago. As the Recycling Coordinator for the Pasco County School District, part of her job was helping schools create outdoor learning centers, and that involved using native plants to attract native birds, insects, and mammals. So she began paying more attention to the connection between plants and animals and started learning to identify birds, butterflies, and mammals in their gardens.
