President's Message, June 2026: Update on the End of Season

Hello all! You may notice that my first President's message, as well as the Newsletter itself, may be shorter than you have been accustomed to seeing. As we march towards summer, not only are the birds slowing down their singing, as does Tampa Audubon Society slow down many of its outward appearing activities. Not that there aren't things to do, but it's our moment to look inward and to plan.
In the coming months, we'll be planning our events for 2026/2027, creating budgets, auditing from the previous fiscal year, updating records with new officers, and revamping our committees. While we may want to be out in the field looking for birds, this work is important for the functioning of our Society. If you're curious about the work that the Board and our Committee members do (you don't have to be a Board member to be in a Committee) please join us! There are so many ways that you can get involved with your Society and I'm eager to speak to anyone curious to start asking questions! Current committees are Membership, Program, Conservation, Field Trip, Publications, Historian, Hospitality, Education, and Finance. Most Committee meetings are conducted via Zoom in the evenings. You can reach me at jessica.parrish@tampaaudubon.org
I hope you join us for our end of season event at Tres Amigos! It's a nice way for us to all kick back and celebrate a great fiscal year! Please come out and talk me out of getting a big pile of nachos (though I may not listen). Our Tres Amigos event is June 4, 6:30 pm at Tres Amigos, 2025 W. Brandon Blvd, Brandon.
I'm looking forward to another great year and I hope to hear from you soon!
Jessica
