Florida Young Birders Club Gives Out Leadership Awards

Alex DeBear, Charles Law and Blair Clark receive Leadership Awards from FYBC

Young birders met May 10th for a combined birding outing to the Orlando Wetlands. It was coordinated by Kathy Rigling, Orange Audubon, and Jim McGinity, Tampa Audubon. The bird walk was led by Alex DeBear and it attracted 11 young birders from the Jacksonville, Orlando, Gainesville and Tampa areas. 

After the bird walk, the group gathered at a pavilion and enjoyed lunch. During the lunch, Jim and Kathy presented three of the founding club members (Charles Law, Blair Clark and Alex DeBear) with the first “Leadership Awards” every given by the club. 

These three young men helped to start the club in 2021 by creating the logo, setting up the Instagram and YouTube channels and coordinating the “Jay Chat” zoom program series.  The club wishes them well as they move on to college and hope that their future careers and lives continue to include birds!
