This year, Tampa Audubon will participate in the National Audubon Society’s
124th Christmas Bird Count. We will hoot for owls in the pre-dawn dark and count every bird we can find in our sector.
Participants do not have to join all day — we welcome everyone to help count for whatever portion of the day you can!
Hillsborough County has two bird counts – Alafia Banks and Tampa. There is also a count in Lakeland (Polk County). If you live in our count area, you can report the species you see from your home.
Dec. 16: Lakeland count, contact Cole Fredricks.
Dec. 17: Alafia Banks Count (Sun City Area). To join with TAS in our sector around Apollo Beach, contact Mary Keith. For locations outside our sector contact, contact Charlie Fisher.
Dec. 30: Tampa Count (Bush Gardens area) To join with TAS in our sector around Lettuce Lake Park, contact Mary Keith. For locations outside our sector, contact David Bowman.
Important! Pre-registration is required. Please do not attend this or any Tampa Audubon Society events if you have flu, cold, or covid symptoms. Tampa Audubon is committed to reducing the spread of illnesses. The health and safety of our members is of the highest priority. Click here to see the Alafia TAS sector:
