Bluebird Trail Report 5-20-2019

Glad to be back! It was great being on the Flatwoods Park Bluebird Trail again today and we have an amazing 32 new fledglings this week for a total of 67 fledglings (60 BB, 4 CC, 3 TM), 42 chicks and 18 eggs, all bluebird (see attached spreadsheet for details). Also attached are pictures of the 4 chicks in box F6, and the 2 newly hatched chicks in box F49.

Tim Ohr rode with me today so he could bring me up to date with the bluebirds, since he monitored for me last week while I was out. Thanks Tim! We heard bluebirds all over the park today and we also heard Eastern towhees, and saw wood ducks.

The native garden is full of blooming plants right now and I've attached pictures of ironweed (Vernonia gigantea) and beach sunflowers (Helianthus debilis) in the garden. Out on the trail I took a picture of the beardtongue (Penstemon multiflorus) beginning to bloom.
