It was a beautiful day on the Flatwoods Park Bluebird Trail today and the birds have been busy! We have a total of 11 nests (6 BB, 4 CC, 1 TM), and our first egg, a Carolina chickadee egg! See attached spreadsheet for details. I've also attached a tufted titmouse nest (notice the tiny piece of snakeskin on the left side that is their trademark) and the Carolina chickadee nest with one egg in box F52.
In addition to seeing several bluebirds and a few chickadees, I also saw a Roseate Spoonbill, Common Yellowthroat, Palm and Pine Warblers, Ground Doves, Black and Turkey Vultures, Wood Stork, Ovenbird, and heard several Eastern Towhees. Six deer crossed the road in front of me.
Flowering plants are not very abundant yet, but I attached a picture of a very common wildflower that is in bloom, Fleabane (Erigeron strigosus).
